The Bronze Effigy of Michelangelo by Daniele da Volterra

The purpose of this exhibition is to bring together all the early specimens of Michelangelo’s bronze portraits attributed to Daniele da Volterra in order to explore the complex relationship between Michelangelo’s originals, replicas, and derivatives in the context of this exhibition.
With the assistance of three-dimensional scanning, the exhibition will provide an excellent opportunity for visitors to examine the objects closely and assess their aesthetic and technical merits with the help of 3D scanning.
The exhibition will focus on producing the first scientific catalogue of bronze busts attributed to Daniele da Volterra. Research and diagnostic studies conducted so far will be included in the catalogue, providing a valuable tool for future research and a better understanding of Daniele da Volterra’s bronze casting techniques.
